Welcome to Kents Hill Care Club!
We offer term-time wrap around care for children attending Kents Hill School and Nursery. Holiday Play schemes are also available during the school holidays. We aim to provide a safe, caring, well equipped indoor and outdoor environment for your child to enjoy structured play and fun activities.
Play based activities help children acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding which will be useful to them at home, school and in the communities they live. The relationships they build with other children and our staff should enable them to value themselves and each other as individuals, and to respect beliefs and viewpoints other than their own.
Through our provision, we provide an environment that works towards the five key outcomes of Every Child Matters:
- Keeping children healthy
- Keeping children safe
- Helping children to enjoy and achieve
- Helping Children to make a positive contribution
- Helping children to achieve economic well-being
The club’s organisation and programme of activities offered is developed to address these different areas and engage the children. Through our staff’s support and encouragement, the play opportunities provided will enable the children to explore the world around them, develop new skills, confidence and self-esteem.
Staffing and Management Arrangements
Overall management responsibility for Kents Hill Care Club is fulfilled by the school Governors and the School Head, Simon Bolger.
Miss Debbi Brook is the Care Club Manager, responsible for the day to day management of the organisation. Mrs Helen McAdam is the Playleader of our Early Bird Breakfast Club (before school/nursery) Mrs Christie Oduro is the Playleader of our Twilight Club (after school).
These members of staff are supported by our team of playworkers. All workers are playwork qualified (NVQ levels 2 &3) and /or experienced with working with children.
Some of our club staff are also employed by the school in a variety of roles: Teaching Assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors, which offers continuity of support for your child.
Staff development is a priority for the club and members of staff regularly undertake training to update their skills.
Disclosure and Barring Service DBS (used to be known as CRB) enhanced security checks are carried out to ensure that recruited staff meet the criteria to work with children.
Early Bird (Breakfast Club):
A variety of indoor activities is offered to the children with the aim of gently easing them into the school day. An art and craft activity is always available for the children.
Nursery Morning and Afternoon Care Sessions:
Children attending these wrap round sessions are fully integrated into the school’s nursery class. They have access to the activities in the nursery’s indoor and outdoor environments and to all the Nursery Staff team.
Nursery Lunchtime Sessions:
The focus of these sessions is to ensure that the children eat their lunch. Time permitting, relaxing activities are offered such as colouring and story time.
Twilight (After School Club):
The club has extensive use of the school’s indoor and outdoor environments. A wide selection of activities is provided: construction, dressing up, board games, story corner, chill out zone, outdoor play, parachute games, organised art & craft activities, cooking and Friday movie night to name a few!
Holiday Play Schemes:
These are run during the school holidays. This service is provided as long as enough children attend to make it is financially viable. (The club is a non-profit organisation and so the aim is that all holiday play scheme expenses must be covered by the income).
Before each holiday session notification/request forms are issued to parents.
