KS1 Curriculum

At Kents Hill School, we aim for our curriculum to excite and engage the children in their learning, enabling them to achieve as well as they are able. Our children love learning through inspiring, thematic Imaginative Learning Projects, which are designed to inspire the children, whilst teaching them the essential skills of the curriculum.
Our Nursery children follow Core Experiences, a curriculum within the Foundation Curriculum, which encourages children to gain independence through a ‘learning and exploring’ approach.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers base their thematic approach to learning by using the Cornerstones Curriculum. This resource ensures that children cover all areas of learning within the Foundation Curriculum and National Curriculum respectively. We are finding that children are engaged and motivated to learn through stimulating and creative teaching.
Phonics is taught across the school using Read, Write, Inc.
